Can you really touch, feel and smell software?

What a way to begin Friday!

It was just few weeks ago when I received a phone call from Aristides Loukrezis. Hadn't heard his name before, but I immediately realized that a very interesting guy was on the other end of the line.

He runs a small company that creates 3D printed architectural models (maquettes). His family knows the job very well: they are in the business for almost three decades and they use some really expensive machines to produce very sophisticated results.

One of the toughest tasks in his job is to represent the environment and terrain morphology, so it gives the exact look and feel of the projects' area in the final 3D printed models.

He was asking for more details on how he could use Plex.Earth in his projects.

Yesterday, he called me again. He had been very busy lately, but finally found some time to come to our offices and show us his work. He brought together some tiles from the complete model (which is the size of a big table), as you can see in the image below.

He told us that Plex.Earth helped him reduce the time he spent in this task, from a week down to a single day.

We had the chance to show him the new version of Plex.Earth (which will be available in beta in a few weeks) and how it will further reduce this work to just a couple of hours. Fortunately, he seized the opportunity to make some suggestions that will make Plex.Earth more friendly to 3D printing professionals.

So, yes, finally it’s a fact: we can touch, feel and smell Plex.Earth!

(...and that makes us proud and very happy)

You can see some more of Aristides' work in this and this video.

We are very interested to see how you touch, feel and smell Plex.Earth. Tell us how you use Plex.Earth and we'll be very glad to dive deep into your projects and how we can make Plex.Earth even more useful to you!
